DEATH OF JOAN TOLLEY – 21st June 2019

DEATH OF JOAN TOLLEY – 21st June 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the death on 21st June of Joan Tolley of Crediton in the Dales Nursing Home in Exeter. She was 73 and had no children. Joan was an active lady and belonged to many local clubs and societies including her church. She knew she had a terminal illness and was in a great deal of pain in her last few weeks.

Joan has been a member of Devon Dowsers since October 2010. She became a committee member in 2013 where she was always full of good ideas, and we are grateful to her for her valuable contribution over the years. She became the Club’s Librarian, and was a regular attender at our monthly Talk meetings where she happily helped with the Raffle when asked. She will be greatly missed by us all.

Joan was very interested in gardening and opened her garden for Charity each year which many DD members attended a few years ago. She was an expert in, and also taught, embroidery, also a keen member of the Richard lll Society and visited Leicester Cathedral when his bones were dug up.

We only became aware of her passing yesterday so were unable to represent Devon Dowsers at her funeral which took place at Crediton Parish Church last Friday 12th July 2019.

Council are sending a letter and card of condolence to her family.

Devon Dowsers welcomes those who have a fascination for this ancient art, and who wish to share their experiences with other open-minded members.

We always welcome new members, so please see our current programme  and come to a meeting to check us out. To learn more,  get in touch through our contact form. We’d love to hear from you.

“Dowsing for One and All”

DFEST 2020 will take place at South Zeal, Devon, UK on the weekend of 13th/14th June.
With 2020 vision, we aim to build on the success of DFEST 2018.

Booking available from Spring 2020

South Zeal, is a beautiful village on the northern edge of Dartmoor in Devon. The festival will be a celebration of Dowsing that will be inspiring, fun and open to all, novices and experts alike. Children are also welcome as long as accompanied by a responsible adult.
You can come for one day or for the whole weekend. Talks and Workshops will take place in the Victory Hall and within the village, for those who choose not to venture further. Outings will visit fascinating ancient sites on North Dartmoor, local Holy Wells and sites where the Michael and Mary currents run. Learn from expert leaders, and professional dowsers.
Local accommodation is available as well as a camping field behind one of the two excellent village pubs. Further information will become available in the near future.
