DEATH OF JOAN TOLLEY – 21st June 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the death on 21st June of Joan Tolley of Crediton in the Dales Nursing Home in Exeter. She was 73 and had no children. Joan was an active lady and belonged to many local clubs and societies including her church. She knew she had a terminal illness and was in a great deal of pain in her last few weeks.

Joan has been a member of Devon Dowsers since October 2010. She became a committee member in 2013 where she was always full of good ideas, and we are grateful to her for her valuable contribution over the years. She became the Club’s Librarian, and was a regular attender at our monthly Talk meetings where she happily helped with the Raffle when asked. She will be greatly missed by us all.

Joan was very interested in gardening and opened her garden for Charity each year which many DD members attended a few years ago. She was an expert in, and also taught, embroidery, also a keen member of the Richard lll Society and visited Leicester Cathedral when his bones were dug up.

We only became aware of her passing yesterday so were unable to represent Devon Dowsers at her funeral which took place at Crediton Parish Church last Friday 12th July 2019.

Council are sending a letter and card of condolence to her family.
